Executive Director

Dr. Jairo Morales-Nieto, Ph.D. in Economics (Doktor in Wirtschaftswissenschaften) from the University of Muenster, Germany. He specialized in the fields of Development Economics, Economic Policy, Agricultural and Regional Economic Theory and Policy. He has worked for the United Nations for more than 25 years as high level chief technical and policy advisor. He has extensively consultancy experience in assisting a number of developing countries in Latin America, Asia, Africa and Europe (Balkan countries).  Additionally, he is author of numerous books and papers on development economics and economic policy. His research work is primary concerned with transition strategies towards peace, democracy, social equity and open market society with major focus on local economic, microfinance and small business development.


Ms Miriam Hassan, South African citizen. B compt. at UNISA and MBA Management Development, French Bank Business School. Extensive working experience with the United Nations and USAID during 9 years in South Africa as Financial and Management Officer of several development programmes including international consultancies on behalf of UNOPS. Her most recent job was performed from 2005 until 2011 as the General Manager – Finance of the Home Loan Guarantee Group based in Johannesburg. She has also gained commendable experience in assisting the small business sector covering many fields such as research and analysis, business coaching and training, business networking and capacity building.
